More![]() When creating lecture content, it is important to see accessibility as a priority, not an afterthought. The goal of online video lectures is to provide a way of learning for all students, whether they learn better from reading or listening. As one of the most well-known ways to be accessible, generating captions allows students with hearing impairments to watch videos and follow along by reading the corresponding captions. During this session we will also look at additional benefits that closed captions can provide all learners. With recent updates to TechSmith Knowmia captioning features, adding closed captions to your videos has never been easier. We'll show you how to automatically transcribe your video's audio into captions via the speech-to-text generator, explore the robust caption editor, as well as an option to assign your videos to another user to help with the captioning process. What about providing assignment feedback for students as a video note instead of typing your comments? All of this is possible using Video Note in D2L Brightspace. You can record a video note anywhere that you have access to the HTML editor within a course (news, content, discussions, dropbox folders, quizzes, grades, feedback, and more). When you attach a release condition to an item, users cannot see that item until they meet the associated condition. For example, you could attach a release condition to the second topic in your course’s content area that would hide that topic until users viewed the topic before it.
